Our History

In the early 20th century the Hobart Family began cutting stone. In the early 21st Century, 100 years and four generations later, the Hobart's are still cutting stone.

The first fifty years of Hobart stone consisted of a small, local flagstone setting company in Binghamton, New York. When Richard Hobart (third generation) came along he had bigger ideas. In 1960 he incorporated and Hobart Stone Dealers, Inc. was born. In 1984 Richard's son Jim came on board and the company has never looked back. Under Jim, Hobart Stone Dealers, Inc. has become a national leader in the Bluestone business.

In 2000 Hobart Stone Dealers, Inc. purchased Finger Lakes Stone Company, Inc. located in Ithaca, NY. Finger Lakes stone has been quarrying and fabricating Lenroc (Cornell spelled backwards) Bluestone since the 1950.

Throughout the years, they have been a major force in the Bluestone veneer business. Having supplied unique products on such places as Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY, Finger Lakes Stone has added a new dimension to what Hobart Stone Dealers has to offer.

As they have grown, along with its acquisition of Finger Lakes Stone, Hobart Stone Dealers has become a force to be reckoned with in the Bluestone industry. With plans for plant expansion and a new sales team, our growth is assured for at least another 100 years!
